Which Devices Support eSIM?

eSIM Compatible Phones - Soft Grey Background

Before you buy an eSIM plan, there's one thing worth checking: does your phone actually support it? Most modern smartphones do, but there are still plenty of devices out there that don't. This guide gives you a clear, up-to-date list so you can check in seconds.

How to Check Without a List

The fastest way to check any phone is to dial *#06#. If an EID number appears on screen, your device supports eSIM. You can also go to Settings and look for an "Add eSIM" or "Add Mobile Plan" option. If it's there, you're good to go.

iPhone

Apple has supported eSIM since 2018. Here's what's compatible:

  • iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and later
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation and later)
  • iPhone 14 and later (US models are eSIM only, no physical SIM tray)

Note: iPhones purchased in mainland China may not support eSIM depending on the model year.

Samsung

  • Galaxy S20, S21, S22, S23, S24 series and later
  • Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series (all generations)
  • Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra
  • Galaxy A54, A55 and select A-series models

Some Samsung models sold in certain regions or through specific carriers may have eSIM disabled. Check with your retailer if unsure.

Other Android Brands

  • Motorola: Razr 2019 and later, Edge series
  • OnePlus: OnePlus 12 and select models
  • Oppo: Find X3, X5 series and later
  • Huawei: P40 and later (limited eSIM support depending on region)
  • Sony: Xperia 10 IV and later

Smartwatches and Other Devices

eSIM isn't just for phones. These devices support it too:

  • Apple Watch Series 3 and later (cellular models)
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and later (LTE models)
  • Google Pixel Watch (LTE model)
  • iPad with cellular (select models from 2018 onward)
  • Microsoft Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 9 with 5G

Devices That Don't Support eSIM

Generally, budget Android phones, older flagship models from before 2018, and some region-specific variants don't support eSIM. If your phone isn't on this list, dial *#06# to confirm, or check your manufacturer's website.
